Vote Buying

What is this? Vote buying becomes an issue mainly during elections when the candidates promise to return the favour, give a gift, etc., to those who vote for them. Vote buying should not be confused with giving away free items (balloons, matchboxes, etc.) during an election campaign whereby the voter is not directly obliged to vote for the candidate.
  Examples
Here is an examples:

The candidate of a local election coalition offers smoked fish to a voter if the voter votes for the candidate.

When leaving the polling place, people were directed to a churchyard where each got cash for voting for an agreed candidate.
